Zap - Stars & Stripes
as he should have been in 1997
Parts Used - 1983 Zap figure and accessories
Ah, what we could have had in 1997. Here you see what was initially planned for
what eventually became a Toys R Us exclusive. As with many of my customs using more
valuable parts, this figure is an amalgam of spare parts accumulated over the years,
including reissues of existing molds. No intact 1983 Zap figures were harmed in the
creation of this movie figure. One would think the yellow camoflage
would be a bit much, but it's really not too bad looking. Well, at least it doesn't
look as bad as the Stars & Stripes set that was ultimately released. Oddly, this
Zap as pictured on the back of the Stars & Stripes box set looks nothing like the
final release, nor like the figure yojoe.com identifies as Zap from other
promotional photos. Me, I think that that's Short Fuze, but nobody asked me.
But I did make a custom of Short Fuze too. So, I actually have a total of 9 Stars
& Stripes - As They Should Have Been figures. Random footnote - this was my
first figure that used Citadel Elf Flesh for skin colored paint, and I think it looks
pretty darn good.
